A Screw-up

HOW TO USE

Speak as Carrie
Speak as Megan
Carrie: How is your brother Tim doing these days?

Megan: He is the same as he has always been – a screw-up.

Carrie: You always call him a screw-up, but I've never asked you why.

Megan: If you knew him better, you'd understand. He just can't do anything right.

Carrie: Give me an example.

Megan: For one thing, he has never held a job for more than a year. He always quits or gets fired. Also, anytime he has any sort of responsibility, he messes it up. You just can't count on him.

Carrie: But you said that everybody loves your brother.

Megan: They do! It's because he is very funny and outgoing. He always makes everyone laugh, so they don't care about him being irresponsible.

Carrie: Does it bother you that he is a screw-up?

Megan: It's harder for me because I'm always the one who has to fix his mistakes.
